Whatever you call it, I did a podcast!
Now this may not seem like that big of a deal to you, but this oftentimes techno-challenged chica hadn’t ever even listened to one before a couple of weeks ago. So imagine my surprise when I get an email out of the blue from the Bates brothers asking me if I’d like to do a podcast for them. Huh?? Who? ME? I’m a nobody, just a Labrador-loving, ice cream obsessed, running Disney Dork. What could I possibly have to say that anyone beyond the Wonder Mutt would find even remotely interesting, (and I’m pretty sure she has absolutely no idea what I’m saying, she just likes to make me feel like she’s paying attention).
I stumbled across Adam and Devon Bate on Twitter, thanks to one of those alerts you get when people you follow start following other people and they start following other people, blahblahblahblahblah.
Anywho, after checking out their website, Lifestyle Accountability, I was intrigued. They believe there is no better motivation to living a healthy and fit life, than by being inspired by others. And what better way to do that than by getting that inspiration straight from the horses’ mouths? (No offense intended!) So once I figured out I could actually download podcasts on to my trusty phone – and yes, I’m well aware of the total dorkoid I’m being – I gave a listen. And then another. And another. And another. And…well you get the idea. I was totally hooked. And I even found this hilarious chica…
Lindsay from Lindsay Weighs In, talked about how she has battled with her weight but, like all good women, still allows herself the occasional cupcake (ahhh, true love). Feeling a bit daunted by the whole podcast thing, I stalked her on Facebook, looking for pointers on how to avoid, as much as possible anyway, sounding like a total dork. (In case you haven’t figured it out yet, I don’t care about being said total dork – as long as it’s Disney related).
She gave me some great advice and feeling slightly less freaked out by the whole thing, I bit the bullet and set the date for my techno-demise. I even downloaded Skype onto my phone, of course having absolutely no idea what to do with it. Imagine my relief when Adam told me we could just do it over the phone, (whew! Escaped that visual freak show.) So at the appointed time on a rather mundane Thursday evening, my phone rang and up popped a California number.
And I froze.
Aaaggghhh! What am I doing?! Who the heck do I think I am and why, in the name of all that is #shenanigans, do these guys want to talk to ME?!? In steps the hubby, and with a quick, “answer the damn phone you idiot” look, I quit my best Elsa imitation and go into hyperdrive. For the next 45 minutes, I manage to laugh, interrupt, giggle, and basically bs my way through my mediocre high school cross-country career, gaining the freshmen 15 – which really looked like a whole lot more – and on to my escapades into gym after gym after gym, finally ending with my current obsession with all things runDisney. Looking at it now, it sounds even MORE boring. #Egads.
So if you’re feeling like you really have no life, and need some help falling asleep tonight, check out my podcast here. I guarantee you’ll be out cold in a minute and a half. Maybe two. Thanks for listening!
Enjoy the ride.
